The
band is young...starting in the summer of 2001. Tom and Archie toyed around
with a variety of bands before collaborating on Midnight Paradox. They
both knew they wanted to have fun and play with others who wanted the
same thing...and to feel the magic of music. So when Shannon indicated
that she was interested in singing in a band, Tom asked Archie and they
started the wheels rolling. Archie invited Greg to put his guitar down
and strap on a bass for the project. That suited him and he was soon cranking
away on the bass guitar. Tom approached one of the drum instructors
in the store. Next thing we know, Eddie is on board. We still wanted more
power in our vocals (to work with Shannon and Archie) and Jo had been
singing in the store on Tuesday evenings. Archie approached Jo and was
greeted with an enthusiastic "I thought you would never ask!"
What a trip.
Midnight Paradox then
held it's first open-air practice at Archie's house. We invited everyone
so that we'd have a friendly crowd
... but an honest one. Reuben was one of our guests. Archie knew he played
guitar so asked Reuben to bring his guitar with him. From the moment he
plugged in and turned on, we knew we had magic.
We
are all "related" in some way to each other. Tom's brother (Joe)
is married to Robynne -- a hair dresser who does Archie's hair. Actually,
Archie introduced Robynne to Joe. Shannon is also a hair dresser who works
with Robynne. Robynne does Peggy's hair who is Reuben's wife...and Reuben
and Peggy live just down the street from Archie. Archie used to work with
Carrie who is Greg's wife. Tom's store (Allegro Music) hosts artists from
time to time, and Jo Dianna was one of the singers and also teaches guitar
there. Eddie Dowdle teaches drums at the store and his girlfriend's, Holly,
mother (Jan) owns the beauty salon where Robynne and Shannon work. Jan
also does Archie's nails. To add to it all, Tina (who took all of these
pictures), is a hair dresser who works with Robynne and Shannon at Jan's
place. Got it? It was meant to be.
We've all become friends
and have been enjoying the ride. We'll continue for as long and as far
the journey takes us.
